PCU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801 – Owen Heart Center, 5th Floor
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/7/2025 – End: 3/8/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Dress Code: All white or all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880–$2020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry nursing experience
• Proficiency with titratable or cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex/Lasix)
• Preferred: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge nurse experience
• Flexible, positive attitude, and strong team player

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures
• Monitor and interpret telemetry; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications as ordered
• Perform bedside procedures, including cardioversion
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team (charge nurses, PCTs, unit secretaries)
• Float as needed to MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding
• Document patient care and interventions using Cerner EMR
• Maintain a compassionate, patient-centered approach at all times
