Job Description\nAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a CA license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification for a night shift position with weekend requirements.
\n \n Responsibilities\n- Work in the ICU at an acute care hospital
- 10-bed ICU featuring swing bed capacity, with a patient mix varying based on census
- Patient ratios are 1:2 for ICU and 1:3 for stepdown or swing beds
- Medical ICU focused on respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, GI bleed, and psych holds
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Travelers are the first to float when needed
- Telemetry monitoring and ventilator care required
- Use of Cerner EMR system
- Bedside report and self-scheduling available
- Access to support from charge nurse, nurse aides as staffing allows, hospitalist or intensivist in-house, and 24/7 RT and pharmacy services
- Expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) as determined by unit management
- Navy scrubs are required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets are optional but must be navy
- Floor-specific orientation provided (1–2 days with preceptor)
- Use of telemedicine robots in a horseshoe unit layout
- No charge of pediatric patients is required for travelers
- Medical or religious COVID vaccine declination accepted with appropriate documentation
- Returning candidates cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year as a staff employee
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required; PALS preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Two supervisory references: one from within the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Must pass a basic Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with up to two attempts allowed
- Ability to pass sterile technique assessments for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
