Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring 2+ years of M/S experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details\n

\n
• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
\n
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
\n
• Utilizes cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
\n
• Cerner/Oracle Health charting experience preferred but not required
\n
• Floating may be required in rotation with staff based on clinical experience and unit policies
\n
• Biweekly orientation held on Mondays
\n
• Some holiday coverage required in rotation with staff
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active RN license, Compact or Virginia (VA), required in hand
\n
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
\n
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
\n
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
\n
• Prior travel nursing experience required
\n
• Charge nurse experience preferred
\n
• BSN not required
\n
• Skills in GI care, bariatric surgery support, feeding tube management, respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
\n
• Must provide copy of driver's license and Social Security card for consideration
\n

• Provide direct patient care within a Medical Surgical unit including monitoring, emergency response, and telemetry support
\n
• Nicotine-free campus
\n
• Scrub policy allows any color with a professional appearance, child-friendly print tops, and scrub/lab coats permitted
\n
• 8-10 hours of orientation and annual modules required, completed during orientation
\n
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with a preference for no time off requested during the first weeks of the assignment
\n
• Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
\n
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
\n
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
\n
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
\n
