As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Vehicle Accident Reconstruction (VAR), you'll investigate complex mechanical failures and vehicle incidents. You'll be uncovering the engineering truths behind the facts. This role is ideal for engineers who are curious, detail-driven, and eager to apply mechanical principles to real-world investigations. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents involving all types of vehicles and related mechanical equipment
- Conduct vehicular accident reconstruction and mechanical failure analysis initially in a support role and later as a project lead
- Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer analyses and simulations and technical reporting
- Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Regular and predictable physical presence in the office

Position Requirements:
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred
- Eligible within six months for P. E. registration through testing
- Seven years of post-academic engineering work experience preferred
- Vehicular knowledge is required
- NHTSA, Forensic, Racing or Vehicle Safety background is a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software is a must
- Computer aided drawing skills is a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Public speaking experience is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 35% of the time
- Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
