• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (Upstate New York healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown
• Assignment Length: 16 weeks (option to extend)
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend; available for 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Day/Eve)
• Floating: Required to float to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2100 - $2250

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York RN license or proof of application (New York nursing jobs)
• Minimum 1 year recent clinical experience in telemetry or cardiac stepdown nursing
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
• NIHSS certification (must be obtained prior to start)
• EPIC EMR documentation experience within the past 2 years
• Proficiency with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post-cardiac cath care
• Ability to float to similar units as needed
• Reliable transportation required (no public transportation access)
• Ability to work every other weekend and scheduled holidays
• Professional appearance and adherence to dress code (navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute cardiac and progressive care needs
• Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-PTCA/stent, and other cardiac conditions
• Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips according to protocol
• Perform EKGs, start IVs, and provide post-cardiac catheterization care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including respiratory and anesthesia support available 24/7
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
• Float to appropriate units as assigned and adapt to changing patient care needs
• Participate in orientation and ongoing unit education
