Job SummaryThe Epic Revenue Cycle Project Manager provides leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight for all Epic Revenue Cycle applications including Hospital Billing (HB), Professional Billing (PB), Claims, Health Information Management (HIM), Patient Access, and Grand Central. This role ensures that all Epic Revenue Cycle initiatives are successfully planned, executed, and supported, aligning with organizational goals for financial performance, compliance, and patient experience.
The Project Manager also manages personnel within the Epic Revenue Cycle team, including hiring, performance management, staff development, and long-term capacity planning. This position partners closely with clinical, financial, and operational leaders to drive system optimization, prepare for future Epic upgrades, and support expansion to Community Connect partners.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject & Program Management
- Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of Epic Revenue Cycle implementation, upgrade, and optimization projects.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT analysts, revenue cycle leaders, and external vendors.
- Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage communication plans, risk logs, and issue resolution processes.
Application Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight for Epic applications: HB, PB, Claims, HIM, Patient Access, and Grand Central.
- Ensure system stability, compliance, and performance.
- Partner with operational owners to identify and prioritize system enhancements and workflow optimizations.
- Ensure ongoing monitoring of KPIs and operational metrics to support revenue integrity and process improvement.
Long-Term Planning & Optimization
- Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for Revenue Cycle systems support, upgrades, and optimizations.
- Collaborate with leadership to align Epic Team strategy with financial and operational goals.
- Identify opportunities to leverage Epic functionality for automation, interoperability, and user efficiency.
- Support planning for Community Connect growth and long-term scalability of Epic infrastructure.
Human Resources & Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Epic analysts.
- Conduct performance evaluations, manage workload allocation, and foster professional growth.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning for the Revenue Cycle Epic team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as liaison between Epic Team, Revenue Cycle operations, and Finance leadership.
- Facilitate regular meetings to communicate project status, upcoming initiatives, and system performance.
- Collaborate with training and change management teams to ensure successful adoption of new workflows.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in healthcare IT or Revenue Cycle management.
- Epic certification required in at least one relevant Revenue Cycle module (e.g., HB, PB, Claims, HIM, Patient Access, or Grand Central).
- Demonstrated experience leading complex Epic projects or implementations.
- Proven leadership experience managing staff and cross-functional project teams.
- Deep understanding of hospital and professional billing workflows and regulations.
- Strong project management skills (PMP or equivalent preferred) , including scope definition, timeline management, risk/issue tracking, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with clinical leaders, Epic teams, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Community Connect framework and partner onboarding processes.
- Excellent project management skills: defining scope, timelines, risk/issue management, stakeholder engagement, cross-team coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information
- Time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Primarily seated at a computer onsite located at South Central Regional Medical Center
- May involve sporadic evenings or weekend work (approximately 2-4 times per year)
- Occasional travel to partner sites will be required.
- May involve occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 15 lbs.)
- Frequent interaction with operational staff and providers at both South Central Regional Medical Center/Clinics and the Community Connect Partners.
