Job Description: Accounts Payable (AP) Support Specialist

Position: Accounts Payable Support Specialist
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Reports to: Accounts Payable Supervisor / Accounting Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Support Specialist to assist the A/P team with invoice processing, vendor management, and administrative support. This role ensures accurate and timely payments, helps maintain vendor relationships, and supports efficient accounts payable operations. The position offers a hybrid schedule combining in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the full A/P cycle, including processing, coding, and entering vendor invoices.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
  • Maintain vendor records, files, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and reporting.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and provide timely resolution of payment issues.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation as requested.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior A/P staff as needed.
Qualifications / Skills
  • 2-4 years of accounts payable, finance, or accounting support experience.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication skills for internal and vendor interactions.
  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree or coursework in accounting/finance preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid schedule: 2-3 days in-office, remainder remote.
  • Contract duration: initial 6 months with potential conversion to full-time based on performance.
Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $30-$34/hour, depending on experience
  • Alternatively, $55,000-$60,000/year (pro-rated for contract period)
