Position SummaryThe Key Account Manager (KAM) serves as the primary liaison between the company and key strategic customers, ensuring long-term satisfaction, retention, and business growth. This role combines relationship management, strategic sales, and technical coordination, working closely with internal engineering and proposal teams to deliver value-driven solutions that meet complex manufacturing challenges.
The ideal candidate understands both the technical and business sides of industrial machinery — someone who can discuss automation systems confidently while maintaining strong commercial acumen and client trust.
Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the main point of contact for assigned major OEM and Tier 1 manufacturing customers.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of each client’s processes, pain points, and future capital plans.
Identify and pursue opportunities for new machinery, rebuilds, retrofits, and service contracts.
Collaborate with Proposal Engineers to prepare detailed technical quotations and commercial offers.
Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules while ensuring alignment with internal cost objectives.
Monitor ongoing projects to ensure customer expectations are met throughout the build and delivery cycle.
Provide customer feedback to engineering, production, and service teams to drive continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate forecasts, sales reports, and CRM data to support leadership decision-making.
Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, trade shows, and technical presentations.
5+ years of account management or technical sales experience in the machine tool, automation, or capital equipment industry
Strong technical understanding of precision machinery, automation systems, or mechanical engineering concepts
Proven ability to manage complex accounts and multi-phase projects
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Experience preparing and reviewing quotes, proposals, and contracts
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (10–20%)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
Experience supporting or selling to automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and service teams
