Canine Handler

Responsibilities

The Dog Stop® is looking for enthusiastic Canine Handlers to join their team. Knowledge of the dog care industry is a plus but not required provided the candidate is capable of quickly learning the ins and outs of dog behavior and our range of services. We do require a positive attitude, outgoing personality, dedication to providing an unparalleled experience for our clientele, and, of course, a love of dogs.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Supervising and directing safe and positive play
• Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for guests
• Clear communication with shift managers
• Ensuring guests and their owners feel comfortable and are receiving the level of service they’ve come to expect from The Dog Stop
• Contributing to a positive team environment
• Ensuring that all sleep, play, and training areas are clean and sanitary
• Assisting in providing food and medication to dogs
• Monitoring dogs during assigned play and socialization times to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Promptly reporting injuries, accidents, or medical issues to management.
• Communicating behavioral concerns to dog owners as required.
• Maintaining accurate records of dogs’ training and medical needs, behavioral issues, personalized training programs, and progress.

Canine Handlers Requirements:

• A love for dogs.
• preferred experience working as a dog handler.
• The ability to handle different breeds and sizes of dogs.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision.
• The ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• An observant, alert, and patient disposition.
