Company Description:

We are on a journey to create an alternative delivery platform to the traditional Architect, Engineering, Construction Industry (AEC). Creature has integrated Design, Construction, Plumbing, and HVAC components to support the Design, Manufacture, Construct (DMC) delivery platform. We are currently focused on scaling our offering across the country in the healthcare market utilizing volumetric premanufactured modules.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced General Superintendent to join our journey to create an alternative delivery platform. The General Superintendent will oversee all construction field personnel across our portfolio of projects. They will ensure that we safely deliver on quality, schedule, and budget. The ideal state of this leadership role includes direct oversight of program superintendents who oversee multiple site superintendents and tradesmen to create a healthy and growth-oriented environment. This position will be based in Birmingham, AL, with required travel as needed across the US.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support to all superintendents across all projects to ensure design, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.

  • Oversee, mentor, and guide multiple superintendents, facilitating their success and professional development.

  • Collaborate with project management to develop project objectives, schedules, and resource allocation plans.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and quality across all levels of construction operations.

  • Enforce strict compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and legal requirements.

  • Maintain constant communication with project team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Training of superintendents to allow for growth in key areas of company development and jobsite performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of construction industry experience, with at least 7 years in a supervisory role managing multiple superintendents.

  • Proven track record of successfully completed projects, preferably in a similar integrated company.

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, including design, HVAC, and Plumbing.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient in construction software programs and technology.

  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of jobsite production methodology including single piece flow, pull planning, continuous improvement, knowledge of eight forms of waste, etc.

We value our employees and believe that a superior compensation package is a testament to this commitment. As part of our team, you will be financially rewarded and recognized for your skills, experience, and contribution to the company's growth and success.

Fully embrace Creature's Core Values:

  • Ownership versus Coordination - The more you divide up the tasks, the more coordination is required. The costs increase exponentially, simply because coordinating things is always more expensive than owning things themselves. Taking an accomplishment and making sure it was completed by doing whatever was necessary, regardless of the circumstances.
  • Accomplishment over Activity - Sheer activity requires just as much effort with a fraction of the return on accomplishments. Completing work effort, getting a result, getting things done. Your role (job) has nothing to do with activities.
  • Compelling Conscientiousness - Quality at any locus in an organization is a function of conscientiousness not, ultimately, of some program or technique. People who are conscientious preclude the errors that lead to poor quality, whether in a product or service. Paying attention to details, seeing something going on, and regardless if it is your job, addressing it, and making it right.
  • Mastery of Communication - Competence begins and ends with mastery of the communication process, rst for oneself, and then for the complex interdependencies you nd yourself in. The ability to drive clarity, closure, and buy-in with a person or group.
  • Accountability is reliability - The unwillingness of team members to tolerate the interpersonal discomfort that accompanies calling a peer on his or her behavior and the more general tendency to avoid difcult conversations. Members of great teams overcome these natural inclinations, opting instead to 'enter the danger' with one another. The enemy of accountability is ambiguity. Holding each other and/or our partners to results, calling out when there is a lack of results, and doing whatever it takes to get the result.
