Position Summary:
The Survey Party Chief works on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
· Set grade stakes, drives stakes, set offsets, and set corners of structures to be built.
· Locate property corners, utilities, and pipelines.
· Meet with superintendent to determine what needs to be staked and how to avoid stakes being knocked down.
· Communicates the needs in the field to the crew coordinator to acquire the information to do the staking.
· Upload and download from the data collector.
· Do topographic survey for preliminary and as-built drawings.
· Takes good, clear field notes.
· Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma
Physical Requirements:
- Work Environment: This job operates in the field on control, boundary, right-of-way, topographic and construction surveys. The role may require occasional travel.
- Physical Demands:
- Prolonged sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Extensive use of a computer terminal
- Frequent walking
- Frequently will lift up to 20 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Travel required
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and/or evenings as necessary (based on project demands)
- Conducts walk-throughs of construction sites.
- Normal office environment
- Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials or equipment (over 50 pounds).
- Requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, solvents, fumes and heavy equipment
- Requires working in outdoor weather conditions
- Requires constant standing, sitting, bending, crouching, walking, pulling, pushing, reaching, kneeling
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and/or evenings as necessary (based on project demands)
- Requires frequently working in confined spaces.
- Requires working at all heights
- Requires climbing up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
