Nurse Practitioner – OB & Primary Care (NP/CNM)
Clinic + Deliveries + C-Section Assist + Primary Care Panel
GoRural is partnering with a mission-centered healthcare facility in Wolf Point, Montana, serving a rural and underserved Native American community. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner with a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide combined women’s health, obstetric, and primary care services.
This role offers meaningful community impact with a unique blend of OB, surgical assist, clinic care, and longitudinal primary care relationships.
Position Summary
The NP/CNM will divide their time between women’s health/OB services and a dedicated primary care patient panel. Responsibilities include prenatal/postpartum care, labor management, vaginal deliveries, C-section assisting, and ongoing Family Medicine/Primary Care for assigned patients.
This integrated role is ideal for a provider who values continuity of care across the lifespan in a rural setting.
What You’ll Do!
Primary Care Responsibilities
- Maintain your own Primary Care patient panel
- Provide acute, chronic, and preventive care for patients across the lifespan
- Manage common primary care conditions, medication management, and follow-up visits
- Promote wellness, disease prevention, and patient education
- Collaborate with internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, and specialty services
Women’s Health & Clinic OB
- Conduct prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic visits
- Manage contraception, family planning, and wellness exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests related to OB/GYN care
- Provide culturally sensitive education and support for mothers and families
Labor & Delivery
- Manage labor, evaluate progress, and perform normal spontaneous vaginal deliveries
- Assess maternal/fetal wellbeing and respond to obstetric emergencies
- Participate in L&D on-call rotation
C-Section & Surgical Assist
- Assist OB/GYN surgeons during C-sections )
- Support patients in pre-op and post-op phases
- Maintain competency in sterile technique, surgical assisting, and L&D emergencies
Collaboration & Documentation
- Partner closely with OB/GYN, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Anesthesia, and Nursing
- Document encounters timely and accurately in the EMR
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary meetings
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing
- Active NP license and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) credential
- Eligible for Montana APRN license
- National certification (AMCB or equivalent)
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP (or ability to obtain)
- Primary Care or Family Practice experience preferred
- OB and delivery experience strongly preferred; rural experience beneficial
