Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess and interpret data to identify age-specific needs. The LPN provides leadership and coordination of quality patient care by fostering therapeutic relationships, active treatment, and supporting the hospital in its mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care and recognizes behavioral and physical changes
- Carries out nursing care recommendations and orders
- Maintains a therapeutic environment
- Passes medications and oversees the medication room
- Serves as shift leader if assigned, making assignments to direct care staff
- Provides oversight to subordinate nursing staff working the unit
- Responds to medical emergencies as assigned
- Takes orders and provides care/treatment as ordered by medical staff
- Performs other duties as assigned within the Nursing Department
Required Qualifications:
- Eligible for Kansas LPN license
- Six months practical nursing experience
- Kansas LPN license/temporary permit at onboarding
- Approved drug test
- Facility-required training/certifications maintained continuously
