Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We are currently seeking a Residential Manager to support one of our residential group homes. The ideal candidate requires a background and passion in supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least two years working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of the program, meeting all company and state of CT policies and regulations.
  • Manage staff and scheduling for adequate coverage.
  • Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
  • Provide direct care as needed.
  • Participate in various meetings, programmatic and business meetings as requested.
  • Provide safe and nurturing environment where Individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities and are protected from abuse or neglect.
  • Maintains individuals’, BARC program, management, and all other necessary records while maintaining confidentially and HIPAA standards. Completes and maintains required documentation.
  • Participates in the recruitment, orientation, and on-going training of staff. Conducts and participates in various staff meetings.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work cooperatively with all BARC employees, individuals served, families, supervisors, and other providers or professionals.
  • Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of computers.

Physical Efforts:

  • May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling.
  • Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (wheelchairs) or have to safely transfer ~35 pounds (using mechanical lifts).
