Job Summary:

The Oral History Archivist plays a critical role in preserving and providing access to unique oral history collections. This position is responsible for arranging, describing, and maintaining large and complex archival collections that include paper records, born-digital files, and audiovisual materials. The Archivist ensures adherence to professional archival standards and best practices while creatively solving challenges encountered during processing. In addition to processing, the role manages collection data in specialized systems (SPOKEdb, Aviary, OHMS), oversees preservation actions, and supports space and storage logistics. The Archivist also provides research assistance to scholars and the public, leveraging deep knowledge of processed collections to answer inquiries. Professional development and engagement with library committees are encouraged to stay current with archival trends and contribute to the broader mission of the organization. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills, a passion for historical preservation, and the ability to balance technical expertise with public service.
