Our client is seeking a Tool and Die Maker / Journeyman to join their team and will be a key member of the manufacturing team by focusing on making dies and tooling to keep production running efficiently. Compensation Starting at $85K per year --salary negotiable well above $85K per year for top-talent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up dies in the press to ensure proper installation and operation, maintaining accuracy and high-quality production
- Alter and modify existing tooling using CNC and Wire EDM machines to accommodate new part designs or production requirements
- Program and operate CNC equipment and Wire EDM machines to create precise tooling, parts, and molds
- Design, build, and repair tools and dies for manufacturing parts and components
- Adjust tooling in presses to ensure parts produced are within specification and meet required tolerances
- Ensure proper shim making principles are followed when creating shims for precise alignment and fit of tooling and parts
- Align and install shims in tooling to achieve optimal part fit and maintain accurate tolerances
- Continuously improving tooling through regular analysis of tooling performance, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing design or process changes to increase efficiency, reduce defects, and improve quality
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to create and modify tools and dies
- Operate precision machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment
- Inspect finished products for quality and precision, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and improve manufacturing processes
- Maintain and repair tooling and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Ensure safety standards are followed and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of tooling modifications, repairs, shim alignment, press setup, tooling improvements, and machine programs
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support manufacturing goals
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- High school diploma or equivalent (apprenticeship or vocational training preferred)
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker--must be at journeyman level
- Strong experience in setting up dies in presses to ensure proper alignment and operation
- Perferrrably proficienct in programming and operating CNC equipment and Wire EDM machines (may be light on skills here as the organization partners with a tech school).
- Solid knowledge of shim making principles and experience with shim alignment to ensure proper fit and tolerances
- Experience with adjusting tooling in presses to ensure parts are produced to specification
- Commitment to continuous-tooling improvement through process optimization, innovation, and problem-solving
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, technical drawings, and CAD models
- Proficiency with traditional precision machinery (lathe, mill, grinder, etc.)
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and tool design
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25-30lbs
