Paid Time Off:
Eligible employees begin accruing PTO on their date of hire. PTO combines vacation and sick leave, starting at 15 days per year for full-time employees. UMC also follows Washington State Sick Leave guidelines, providing one hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
Starting Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000; depending on experience

Position Overview:
Design and configure controls systems. Provide basic level software from pre-engineered software designs and more complex software designs. Prepare control drawings, valve and damper schedules and submittal packages. Prepare system start-up packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- CAD Design and configure control systems as defined by project specifications.
- Select and install control products, components, applications, and systems.
- Create reusable, field-tested standards/ review and revise systems for submission to the standards library/ coordinate with estimators and management to maintain the standard library's integrity.
- Assist/coordinate RFI's with the Project Manager.
- Prepare/ review submittals.
- Collaborate with other Engineers and Controls Specialist to define software needs and develop testing and commissioning plans.
- Provide technical coordination on projects.
- Lead engineering teams on large, complex building control projects.
- Provide start-up and commissioning support.
- Provide engineering support including specification review and creation of points list, contract controls diagrams, and sequence of operations.
- Prepare shop and installation drawings.
- Prepare bill of materials.
- Collaborate with the COM, Project Manager, Engineers, and support staff.
- Coordinate with Project Manager on special requirements addressed during the submittal process including TCP sizes, layouts/locations, special mounting requirements, home runs, and other installation needs.
- Provide technical assessment/ review of project plans/ scope.
- Interpret project technical requirements and system applicability, software, and user interface.
- Adhere to technical standards, procedures, and policies of the company and provide recommendations for revisions as standards evolve and system needs change.
- Provide input on standardization of product selections, new applications, drawing and documentation standards to assure quality, productivity, and performance.
- Respond to technical information requests.
- Develop project documentation, manuals, test and commissioning plans, and customer training materials.
- Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provide schedule and completion time input to PM for forecasting.
- Maintain a tracking information database to manage workload.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of the systems commonly monitored and controlled by a building DDC/EMS. Systems may include Tridium/Niagara Ax/N4, Distech, Lonworks Controllers, BACNet Controllers.
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- May serve as engineering lead on certain projects.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Current, up-to-date knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems technology, control DDC instrumentation technology, and industry standards.
Required Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
