Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Media Effects/Social Media, beginning August 2026. Candidates must hold a graduate or terminal degree in Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Arts, Film Studies, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. This position will be shared between the Department of Communication, Media, & Culture (COMM) and Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS), with the faculty member officially housed in the Department of Communication, Media, & Culture. The successful candidate will support both units by teaching foundational courses in each program. The standard teaching load is five courses per semester, with instruction delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats. Occasional evening or weekend classes may be required. Primary responsibilities include teaching introductory lower-level courses in either department (e.g., COMM 150: Media, Self & Society; SMED 101: Social Media Practice & Study), along with the opportunity to design and teach a limited number of upper-level electives in areas related to social media or communication, depending on student interest and departmental needs.
