ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:

The DOJ Accredited Representative will provide high-quality immigration legal services to World Relief Durham Immigration Legal Services Center (WRD-ILSC) clients under the supervision of the WRD-ILSC Program Manager. WRD is a field office of World Relief and provides immigration-related legal services to residents of North Carolina, with special focus on those living in the Triangle area and its surrounding counties.  WRD-ILSC is a Department of Justice (DOJ) recognized legal service provider, and it offers direct representation and legal advice to primarily low-income immigrants regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender expression.    The representative will assist clients with various immigration matters including, but not limited to, employment authorization, adjustment of status, family-based petitions, naturalization, DACA, TPS, SIV, Parole, affidavit of supports, Consular Processing, and Travel document. This role requires DOJ accreditation and a commitment to serving the refugee, immigrant and underserved communities with integrity and compassion. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducting intakes and client interviews 
  •  Provide legal consultations and assess eligibility for any immigration relief 
  •  Preparing and filing immigration applications and petitions to the USCIS and NVC 
  •  Representing clients in matters before USCIS, if required   
  • Ensure all client records are maintained accurately and kept current in both physical and electronic formats.   
  • Record and updated documents and case notes regularly in WRD-ILSC case management system including in LawLogix and SharePoint   
  • Conduct legal research and stay current with changes in immigration law and policy   
  •  Conduct community outreach and immigration information sessions and know-your-rights workshops   
  • Participate in a regular trainings and professional development related to immigration law 
  •  Collaborate with other legal staff and support staff to ensure efficient and quality service delivery   
  • Comply with organizational policies, ethical standards, and DOJ regulations 
  •  Support the program manager in collecting data during reporting period and meetings 
  •  Prepare and distribute promotional materials   
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor 
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mature and personal Christian faith

  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Active DOJ Partial Accreditation   
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in law, immigration services, or related field   
  • Minimum one years of experience working in immigration legal services including non-profit agencies immigration attorneys   
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and procedures   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills   
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  •  Desire and ability to work with people of diverse ethnicity, nationality, religion, language, sexual orientation, and gender expression   
  • Ability to work on a team; ability to work independently   Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  •   Fluency in a second language commonly spoken by refugees and immigrants 
  •   Experience working with Refugees and immigrants   
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations 
  •  Proficiency in legal case management software including LawLogix and other related software 
  •  Ability to work independently and as a team 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in law, immigration services, or related field 
  • Valid license, access to reliable vehicle and clean driving record preferred.
