Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Social Worker (LCSW, LMSW, LGSW, LICSW) to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide vital support, counseling, and advocacy for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, or environmental challenges that may impact their academic success. This role involves conducting assessments, collaborating with school staff and families, and connecting students with necessary services and community resources. The Social Worker will play an essential role in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student well-being and resilience.
Duties:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify students emotional, behavioral, and environmental needs.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services to students individually and in group settings.
- Advocate for students and families to access community resources, mental health services, and social supports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEPs and 504 planning, to support student goals.
- Support school-wide initiatives on mental health, wellness, equity, and social-emotional learning.
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation of student interactions, interventions, and progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, special education teams, and external service providers to ensure comprehensive support.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention and support plans in collaboration with educators and families.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with educational systems, special education processes, and legal mandates related to student welfare.
- Experience supporting diverse populations, including students in special education, those with behavioral needs, and families facing socio-economic challenges.
- Proficiency in behavioral therapy techniques, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of community resources, social services, and local mental health systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Strong documentation, time management, and organizational abilities to manage caseloads and reporting responsibilities.
