Seeking a neurologist to provide services in support of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The primary site of services shall be located at National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Bethesda, MD.
The WRNMMC NICoE hours of operation are between 0600 – 1800 Monday through Friday with an uncompensated one-hour lunch break. Shifts will be 8 or 10 hours, for a 40-hour work week.

Key Responsibilities
- Serves as a neurologist responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic.
- Performs a wide range of medical duties covering all aspects of neurology in an outpatient clinic.
- Conducts comprehensive studies and exams of presenting patients, utilizing and ordering evaluation assets, including electroencephalography, Magnetic-encephalography (MEG), olfactory testing, and neuro-regenerative, neuro-imaging, vestibular, and sleep study evaluations.
- Makes referrals to appropriate clinics and communicates with patients, referring physicians, and the primary care manager for disorders outside the specialty of Sleep Medicine.
- Utilizes patient records, patient performance, family interviews, and counseling to contribute essential data in the diagnostic process and appropriate patient care.
- Possesses knowledge of Dragon dictation software, MHS Genesis, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Serves as a physician liaison to a referral management coordination call center, supporting care allocation for clinical referrals.
- Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in neurology, collaborating with clinicians in other medical specialties on complicated neurological and neuropsychiatric cases.
- Oversees and educates interdisciplinary teams responsible for testing and treating patients with neurological issues, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice and ethics.
- Makes recommendations to the ISC Director for improving patient and family services and clinical operations related to quality improvement strategies.
- Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, including clinic physicians, psychologists, neuroscience researchers, pharmacists, nurses, and other professionals, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to care.
- Teaches and provides consultation to other healthcare providers, including medical assistants, students, interns, residents, and fellows.
- Provides prescription renewals, telephone consultative services, and episodic care to walk-in clinic patients as needed.
- Reviews charts, polysomnography, and multiple sleep latency testing for quality assurance in Sleep Medicine.
- Conducts comprehensive neurological exams, including cranial nerve, motor/sensory, and cerebellar function assessments.
- Interprets and reports results of polysomnograms, electroencephalograms, MEG, olfactory testing, neuro-regenerative, and neuro-cognitive evaluations.
- Provides expert assessment and interpretation of polysomnography, multiple sleep latency, maintenance of wakefulness testing, actigraphy, and overnight oximetry.
- Diagnoses and develops treatment plans for patients with neurological problems, integrating neurological test results with imaging, laboratory data, and information from other disciplines.
- Organizes clinical data systematically for effective retrieval for clinic and investigational requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Providers shall possess and maintain current course completion documentation for basic life support (BLS) through an American Heart Association recognized program.
- Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA)
- A current, valid, unrestricted license as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- At least two years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting within the past five years.
