Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and establishing radiological control functions including: contamination and radiation control; conducting and documenting radiological surveys; establishing and maintain area radiological postings; conducting radiological monitoring; air sampling and site characterization; supporting remedial activities and confirmation sampling; and tracking and monitoring radiological exposure to site personnel. Technical support and supervision of staff for a variety of project tasks will be required.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of 6 years of additional training or education in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 plus years of directly applicable experience performing the onsite functions of a radiation safety officer at hazardous, toxic, and radiological waste sites for a federal client. Experience working under USACE QC and H&S programs and developing radiation protection and radiological materials management plans.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (or within first 45 days of employment) and 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher (or within first 45 days of employment), medical clearance (including respirator use), first aid and CPR training certifications (or ability to obtain. Minimum of 40 hours of documented radiation safety training or equivalent work experience.
  • Required skills include: performance of radiological release surveys for personnel, equipment, and environmental material; working with stationary and portable radiation detection instrumentation; generating clear and concise radiological survey documentation and reports; conducting perimeter, work area, and personnel air sampling; knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements, packaging, labeling, and transportation of radiological materials; developing and implementing Radiation Work Permits, Radiation Work Instructions, establishing radiation control boundaries and signage, and designing and implementing preliminary and post-remediation site characterization sampling programs per MARSSIM guidance.

  • Associate degree, Bachelor of Science, or Certificate from technical college/university is preferred.

The salary range for this position ranges from $90,122.00-$135,183.00. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
