Job Description

Project Architect/Technical Lead

For five decades, HPI Architecture has shaped environments that do more than function, they inspire, support, and enrich lives across generations. Our work bridges people and place, creating meaningful spaces rooted in purpose and designed with intention.

Our brand promise reflects who we are:

With intention, we approach each project with curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and technical finesse. Fully engaging in the process, we design places that reflect the vision and values of our clients and the people they serve.

At HPI, you’ll grow through continuing education, mentorship, and professional development, with opportunities to expand your skills and elevate your craft. We also offer a flexible schedule and hybrid work options to support balance, collaboration, creativity, and well‑being.

As we embark on the next 50 years, we’re seeking a Project Architect/Technical Lead to guide teams through complex technical delivery and support the documentation quality that defines our legacy.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Support project pursuits by contributing to proposal materials, schedules, and BIM requirements, and represent HPI at industry workshops and continuing education events.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on consultant selection, project scheduling, staffing, and milestone planning, while leading initial BIM project setup and production workflows.
  • Guide the technical development of projects—contributing to Basis of Design documents, ensuring constructability and code compliance, and leading the production of coordinated construction documents using BIM.
  • Direct daily communication with internal teams and consultants, mentor junior staff, and uphold technical standards across disciplines.
  • Ensure design intent, technical accuracy, and client expectations are met while leading QA/QC implementation and contributing to project manual development.
  • Participate in client meetings and support construction budgeting, cost estimating, and value engineering.
  • Work with DSA, local jurisdictions, and permitting agencies to obtain approvals.
  • Support the Construction Administration team by serving as a technical resource during bidding and construction.
  • Contribute to improving office standards and processes while providing mentorship and guidance to the technical team.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must:

  • Demonstrate strong technical and architectural expertise across all phases of documentation.
  • Understand engineering disciplines, construction processes, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Navigate DSA and local jurisdictional processes confidently.
  • Be proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, teams, and external partners.
  • Maintain strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Lead both internal and external teams with confidence and clarity.
  • Bring strong knowledge of materials, systems, and construction practices.

To Qualify, You Must Have:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Project Architect / Technical Lead.
  • A professional architectural degree.
  • Architectural licensure preferred.

Pay, Perks & Benefits

  • Flexible Schedule and Hybrid Work Opportunities
  • Vacation and Sick time
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance with additional Supplemental Insurance options
  • 401(k)
  • Ongoing professional development with access to continuing education and meaningful mentorship
  • Licensure Assistance

Salary Range: $105,000.00 To $135,000.00 Annually
