Job Summary
As an NCT/X-Ray Technician, you will perform various patient care duties and prepare patients for X-rays and laboratory procedures. This role involves working as a team with other NCT to ensure timely patient processing, providing high-quality customer service, and maintaining medical equipment according to OSHA guidelines.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work as a team with other NCT/Lab technicians to ensure patients are processed in a timely manner and according to the organization's protocol and procedures. This includes verification of patient identity and ensuring all orders are placed in the EMR/EHR systems before the procedure begins.
- Handle patient's Point of Care (POC) testing.
- Ensure a high degree of customer service is practiced with each patient.
- Assist patients in dressing for exams and attend to their physical wellbeing during the exam and procedure process.
- Educate patients and families regarding the plan of treatment or procedure.
- Obtain lab samples and completely fill out lab slips and other forms, when necessary.
- Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients.
- Stock procedure rooms with supplies.
- Take responsibility for medical equipment cleaning, quality control, and sterilization in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Relate to the public regardless of racial, ethnic, and economic status.
- Promote and believe in providing quality healthcare services and education to the community in a convenient and compassionate manner.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities
- Follow organization and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
- Uphold HIPAA/PHI regulations.
- Be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
- Sit, stand, walk, and/or move up to 8 hours per day.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- NCT License or Equivalent required.
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years' experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Experience with ATHENA EMR.
