Maintenance Helper [Transfer Only]

We have the following position at our Fontana division:

Transfer Station – Maintenance Helper

Will perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance and repairs of Transfer equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Will follow safe work practices and adhere to all safety rules and practices.
• Will assist and support Equipment Maintenance team and activities.
• Will perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance and repairs of TS and MRF rolling stock equipment not limited to loaders, dozers, forklifts, skidsteers, excavators, etc.
• Will use hand tools and other equipment for the performance of these activities
• Will use welder, torch, and grinder in the performance of their job
• Will work in support of EM team and independently on smaller jobs/tasks
• Will timely and accurately document work performed on Fleetmate work orders
• Will perform other repairs and duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must have good interpersonal skills
• Must have good mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have good judgment skills.
• Must have good organizational and cleanliness skills to ensure a safe and organized work area.
• Must be able to use hand tools, portable power tools, and other equipment as needed.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years previous equipment maintenance and repair experience, required
• Vocational school and/or training in diesel, hydraulics, and propane engines desired.
• Previous experience in the use of hand and small power tools/equipment.

PHYSICAL:

• Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel, for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.
• Will work in outdoor areas and exposed to weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, and wind.
