Job Description Summary
The Office of Instruction at Cuesta College is seeking a pool of Ethnic Studies Part-Time Instructors. Cuesta College provides students with a rich and dynamic learning experience, emphasizing collaboration, engaging students in and out of the classroom, encouraging students to realize their goals and to become global citizens and socially responsible leaders. College faculty are expected to be knowledgeable about, and willing to utilize, different learning and teaching methods appropriate to the students they serve. INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESEffective teaching begins with good preparation. Faculty are responsible for choosing appropriate course materials, including resources at low or no cost to students, developing a student-centered equity-minded syllabus, which adheres to the college-approved Course Outline of Record, and outlining classroom expectations and content to be covered. Additionally, faculty are expected to create content delivery plans, determine the best way to assess student learning, and assign grades. This also includes respectful and intentional instructor-student communication, availability during student hours, and identifying and connecting students with college services and resources. Subject Matter PreparationPreference will be given to candidates who:
Assignments may include day, evening, and online classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, North County Campus in Paso Robles, South County Center in Arroyo Grande, California Men's Colony, and other sites within San Luis Obispo County, or Distance Education. Possible teaching assignments may be in the subject matter of Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, Chicanx and Latinx Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies.

The main campus is located along scenic highway 1, west of San Luis Obispo and east of the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Cuesta College has a North County Campus in Paso Robles, and South County Center, in Arroyo Grande.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
Required:- Master's in African-American/Black/Africana Studies or Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Asian-American Studies, or Native American/American Indian Studies from an accredited institution;OR -Master's degree in Ethnic Studies from an accredited institution;OR
-The equivalent (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link listed in Additional Information);OR-A valid Community College credential in the discipline.
Also Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
