Laboratory Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Laboratory Technician to support our facility by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and equipment upkeep. This role is essential to minimizing downtime and ensuring a safe, efficient working environment. Ideal candidates are hands-on, eager to learn, and comfortable working independently or with a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on support equipment, including cooling towers, air compressors, dryers, boilers, chillers, and related systems.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and document all work performed.
• Respond quickly to mechanical malfunctions to reduce laboratory downtime.
• Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors, leads, and project leaders.
• Work independently or alongside shop personnel, depending on task requirements.
• Learn and perform general maintenance repairs as needed.
• Safely operate common labor and hand tools, as well as shop equipment such as drill presses, band saws, grinders, and metal-working tools.
• Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of basic carpentry, mechanical, or maintenance experience
  — OR completion of vocational coursework in basic mechanical skills.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.

Driving Requirements

• Will be required to drive a company pickup truck or golf cart on campus (no personal vehicle or trailer use required).

Additional Notes

• Position involves assisting with routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Some tasks require climbing cooling towers and using ladders.
