Job Summary:
\n Provides immobilization devices as required. Selects and operates Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed.
\n -Evaluates radio images using the PACS System to ensure that radio images contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
\n -Provides radiation protection for self and the patient in accordance with prescribed safety.
\n -Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to the patient.
\n -Performs radionuclide procedures on patients inclusive of organ imaging, function studies, and assisting the physician in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes under prescribed safety conditions.
\n -Prepares radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
\n -Calibrates equipment and assays radio nuclides.
\n -Receives and inspects radiopharmaceutical packages according to state and NRC guidelines.
\n -Maintains adequate records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations governing the accountability for radioactive materials; maintains other records as directed.
\n -Maintains orderliness and cleanliness including provisions for contamination-free conditions of room, equipment, and personnel.
\n -Follows all NRC, State JCAHO guideline/practices.
\n -Evaluates images using PACS workstation to make certain that images contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
\n -Rotate work assignments as needed such as Cardiology and PET/CT.
\n -Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, Teletracking System, Nuclear Medicine Information System, patient scheduling and computer processing associated with patient studies.
\n -Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
\n -Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patients care.
\n -On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy. Greets in/out patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
\n -Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
\n -Identifies the needs of patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
\n -This process includes communication with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
\n -Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. Required Skills & Experience:
\n -Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist required.
\n Preferred Skills & Experience:
\n -N/A 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. 8 hour shifts M-Tu-Th, plus two Wednesdays a month as needed. Nuclear Medicine tech for cardiac nuclear stress testing; familiar with using nuctrac, epic, ISCV philips reporting system, Digirad camera, able to start IVs. Diagnostic cardiac testing at a HOPD (hospital outpatient department)Required Education:
\n -High School Diploma or equivalent required.
\n -Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
