Job Description
A well‑established Regional Bank, recognized among Forbes’ World’s Best Banks and with a strong presence in Tampa, is seeking an experienced Commercial Banker. This role is responsible for originating and managing commercial loans in alignment with established policies and guidelines, ensuring decisions are grounded in a deep understanding of each client’s financial needs while maintaining compliance with all laws, regulations, and bank standards.
Role Purpose:
Support growth in the Tampa market by extending credit and managing commercial lending relationships. Drive portfolio performance while maintaining strong credit quality and reinforcing the bank’s reputation as a trusted community partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage creditworthiness and documentation for all loans and borrowing relationships originated or assigned
- Assign appropriate credit ratings at origination and adjust as conditions change through monitoring
- Proactively identify problem loans to mitigate losses
- Generate new CRE, Commercial, Construction and IRE deals and customers
- Service and manage existing customer relationships
- Recommend approval and oversee workout programs for problematic loans
- Advise on approval and monitor reserve levels for loans serviced
- Represent the bank in the community through client engagement and professional presence
Ideal Commercial / CRE Banker Profile:
- Proven track record in commercial lending, ideally with regional or community banks
- Broad knowledge across accounting, marketing, business administration, and finance
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial reports, legal documents, and respond to complex inquiries
- Lending strengths in:
- Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
- Investment Real Estate (IRE)
- Construction lending
- Skilled in calculating and applying financial concepts such as interest, commissions, ratios, and proportions
- Community‑minded, with a reputation for integrity and client service
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant commercial lending experience and/or training
- 1-2+ years of related management experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience
