Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details\n

\n
• Critical access hospital setting within the Labor and Delivery unit
\n
• Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
\n
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
\n
• Every third weekend required
\n
• Uses Centricity EMR (preferred experience)
\n
• Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
\n
• Travelers may float to different units
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses)
\n
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NRP
\n
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
\n
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
\n
• Prior travel nursing experience required
\n
• Community hospital experience preferred
\n
• Skilled in sterile speculum exams, NST, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exams, and EFM
\n
• Experience with IV therapy, medication administration, and external fetal monitoring
\n
• Competent in high-risk and vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, C-Sections, and neonatal/newborn care
\n
• Experience with postpartum care, pain management, and surgical cases such as cervical cerclage
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care areas
\n
• Manage high-risk deliveries, C-Section recovery, and neonatal care in the delivery room
\n
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
\n
• Perform newborn assessments, circumcision care assistance, and metabolic screenings
\n
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide fundus, lochia, and perineum care
\n
• Utilize internal and external fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
\n
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
\n
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
\n
• No radius restriction for this position
\n
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
