Maxonic maintains a close and long-term relationship with our direct client. In support of their needs, we are looking for an Opto-Mechanical Assembly Engineer / Technician (1st and 2nd Shift).

Job Description:

Job Title: Opto-Mechanical Assembly Engineer / Technician (1st and 2nd Shift)

Job Location: Milpitas, CA

Work Schedule: On-site

Rate: $36, Based on experience.

Shift: Monday - Saturday

06 AM - 03:30 PM

03 / 04 PM or 12:30 - 02:30 AM (OT required)

OT required on Saturday's

Responsibilities:

Maintain tool schedules, complete alignment processes (milestones) per defined test times - work assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems

Support tool progression priorities -tests and troubleshoots assemblies and/or final systems

As required, prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems


Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain test tooling, sending/receiving tooling to complete daily work activities (3rd party calibration)


Top 3 Skills Needed:

1. Mechanical experience – hands-on mechanical work is essential.

2. Optical alignment experience – highly preferred.

3. Commitment for long-term – ability to work extended hours and sustain workload.


Work Schedule:

• 6 days/week (Monday–Saturday)

• 10+ hours/day

• Long-term engagement expected.


Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma

• At least 1 year of relevant experience (mechanical/optical)

• Interview process will assess knowledge and skills.


Interview Process:

• 3 rounds in one day (~1.5 hours total):

• Mechanical test

• Written test

• One-on-one interview


Industry Preference:

• Candidates from aeronautics or medical devices are good fits.

• No fiber optics experience required.


Requirements:

Performs the build, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies at a system level.

Determines and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. c.

• Tests and troubleshoots assemblies and/or final systems.

May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.

Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.

Requires experience in testing digital and/or analog systems

Ability to read complicated drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of testing and measuring instruments

An AA degree, military technical training or their equivalent vocational training is a +.

• Will accept HS diploma with equivalent experience

Lift 50 lb requirement


EXPERIENCE:

• Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.

• Looking for a person with strong mechanical, electrical and software skills.

• NOT looking for PCB experience/ board TS.

• More opto assembly BIG system level.
