Job Description:

We are a correctional healthcare provider with a regional focus on our clinics in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin Jails and Detention Centers. Our team oversees the day-to-day healthcare operations in facilities with inmate populations ranging from 25 to nearly 2,000 inmates. RN (Registered Nurse)
\tFull-time nights (12-hour shifts)
\tVaccines Not Mandatory
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivery of care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interacts with patients, facility staff, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Essential physical requirements
\tProlonged stationary periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
\tProlonged periods of standing, mobbing, ascending/descending stairs, and bending
\tMust be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at times
\tMust be able to push a medical cart of at least 50 lbs. at times
Key Responsibilities
\tUtilize the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s care.
\tCollect and document patient’s current and past medical/mental health conditions.
\tMake accurate ongoing assessments of patient's status and respond appropriately.
\tPlan and implement a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards. The plan of care is initiated on patient admission based on all aspects of the initial assessment. Plans include physiological, psychosocial, and environmental factors.
\tEducate patients and assist with discharge planning.
\tCommunicate with providers regarding nursing assessments and patient needs.
\tCollaborate with healthcare team members and detention officers.
\tAdminister medications according to policy and procedure, observe and document patient’s response to pertinent medications.
\tDocument all care and communication in a timely manner.
QualificationsQualifications:
\tValid unrestricted RN license
\tCurrent BLS certification
\tAbility to pass background screening
\tMinimum 1-year acute care nursing experience (prefer ER and or correctional experience)
\tAbility to work independently using high level nursing critical thinking
\tSuperior communication skills
\tDesire to care of underserved, vulnerable populations
