We’re hiring an Optometrist (OD) for a Locum Tenens opportunity serving a central hub city and surrounding villages in Northwest Alaska. This role offers meaningful work, adventure, and a flexible schedule — with no call, no weekends, and the ability to practice at the top of your license.
Any U.S. state OD license accepted.
What You’ll Do
Provide outpatient optometry care in both a hospital clinic and village clinic settings.
Patient volume varies by location:
Hospital clinic: ~7–9 patients/day
Other locations: ~15–20 patients/day
Perform charting, OCT imaging, and most visual field testing.
Travel to village clinics (4–5 days per trip) with staff support for patient check-ins and eyewear orders.
Schedule Options
Monday–Friday
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, or
9:00 AM – 6:00/7:00 PM
No Call
Assignment options:
January start with a 3-month minimum, or
Month-on / Month-off schedule
Compensation & Benefits
$115/hr (1099)
Travel & Housing Provided for all assignments
On-site housing accommodations during community clinic travel
