Pay Range Information:

Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Job Description Summary:

Set up selected areas for special events, classes, dinners, etc. and assist other departments with these events. Perform “moves” of personnel and equipment from one location to another. Assist with deliveries and distribution of materials. Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities:

Event Support

  • Coordinate and set up for special events such as dinners, luncheons, forums, meetings, classes, parties, and concerts.
  • Inspect and reorganize all campus classrooms prior to Monday morning classes throughout the academic year.
  • Provide setup for major campus events including Graduation, Founders’ Day, Scholars’ Day, Orientation, Discover Chapman, and American Celebration.
  • Manage residence hall turnovers at the beginning and end of each school year.
  • Organize, set up, and reconfigure residence rooms, apartments, and houses in accordance with Residence Life directives.

Office Moves & Facilities Support
  • Facilitate inter-school and interdepartmental moves of furniture, books, boxes, cubicle partitions, files, and related items.
  • Remove and dispose of trash, storage materials, and bulk furniture items.
  • Assist with unloading trucks, storing, and delivering items as needed.
  • Provide support to other trades when requested or required.
  • Respond to rain leak emergencies, including roof patching, sandbag filling, and placement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Physical fitness with the ability to lift and carry heavy items.
  • High school diploma and demonstrated ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to other departments.
  • Ability to interpret room setup plans and perform basic math calculations.
  • Interpersonal skills to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with diverse members of the campus community.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices as outlined by the California DMV.
  • Commitment to safety, adhering to industry and regulatory standards for safe working practices.
  • Proficiency with hand tools for assembling and disassembling furniture.
  • Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English to interact with all levels of the campus community and external contacts.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively in group settings.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of hand tools to assemble/disassemble furniture.
