Diesel/ Heavy Equipment Mechanic

• Adjusts, services and repairs automotive equipment.
• Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, and overhauls heavy equipment.
• General Accountabilities
• Repairs and replaces damaged or worn parts.
• Dismantles and resembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Performs a full range of skilled repair work, such as minor tune-ups, electrical system servicing, and engine overhauls.
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions and inspects to determine required repairs using computer software.
• Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.
• Repairs automotive and heavy duty equipment.
• Estimates the cost of repairs.
• Instructs operators in the proper operation and servicing of their equipment.
• Operates and maintains shop equipment.
• Performs minor welding and brazing work.
• Keeps records and creates reports pertaining to repairs performed.
• Maintain work area clean and organized.

Job Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 2-3 years related experience
• Preferred: Associate's degree or training in vocational school
