Job Overview
Our client, an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented financial services business in downtown New Orleans, LA, is seeking a talented and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 3-5 years of tax and/or public accounting experience.
Job Description
This is a full-time position that will be on-site until training is completed and can then transition to a hybrid work environment, if desired. You will play a crucial role in having meaningful client interaction, providing a highly personalized service to the company's high-end clients, ensuring the successful execution of client plans, and supporting the company's tax team members. This requires exceptional leadership and mentorship skills, strategic thinking, and a strong commitment to upholding the company's values and goals and helping the team grow.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Engagement and Communication:
- Act as the main point of contact for client communications, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in all interactions.
- Help clients solve their problems, fully understand their needs and provide written solutions outlining timelines and costs. This includes tax planning and financial strategies.
- Regularly engage and collaborate with top clients and company's project manager to actively identify opportunities for increased engagement, address needs and provide updates.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive, forward-thinking attitude, seeking creative and dynamic solutions.
Tax Compliance & Technical Expertise:
- Conduct tax research and provide guidance on complex tax issues.
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and stay up to date on tax laws and regulations.
- Review technical work — tax returns and projects — to make sure they meet Company's intended results and resolve any outstanding issues.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Effectively overseeing client projects for timely and effective execution that is on budget, ensuring stakeholder confidence, active involvement, and informed decision-making.
- Coordinate work assigned and explained, and work with team to resolve issues as they arise. The team trusts you and feels supported.
- Effectively manage and evaluate staff, utilizing unique problem-solving abilities to resolve client and team issues effectively.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to identify project needs, allocate resources and monitor progress.
Project & Scope Management:
- Revisit/update client scope and budgets. If there are any changes in orders, bring them to the Executive team as needed to re-evaluate and update.
- Recognize and report on internal Company opportunities as they arise.
Partner Alignment and Vision Implementation:
- Partner closely with Company's Principal, to ensure the company’s vision and strategic goals are implemented.
- Empower and support team members to implement the company’s vision with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with the Principal to address any leadership challenges or opportunities, leveraging their expertise and guidance as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of tax and/or public accounting experience
- CPA REQUIRED
- Can effectively manage and evaluate staff
- Are a great team player
- Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in financial software such as CCH, Practice ERP, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar programs
- Relish devising creative solutions to meet clients’ needs
- Proactively identifying additional opportunities for engagement with existing clients
- Can take an engagement from the initial planning stages through supervising team members’ work to the engagement’s completion
- Recognize and report on internal Company opportunities as they arise
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Have a passion for meaningful interaction with others – both clients and fellow team members
- Are extremely customer service oriented
