CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a HR Director (manufacturing/distribution industry) in Richmond Heights, OH.
The Director, Human Resources is a hands-on, working HR leader responsible for overseeing and executing core human resources functions while partnering closely with business leaders to support organizational goals. This role blends strategic leadership with day-to-day HR execution and requires a leader who is comfortable operating at both the tactical and strategic levels.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic and operational HR partner to senior leaders and managers across the organization.
- Provide guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Support change management initiatives, including growth, restructuring, and integration efforts.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, practices, and company values.
- Oversee and participate in the recruiting process for exempt, non-exempt, and leadership roles as needed.
- Monitor recruiting metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to leaders on employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, and performance issues.
- Coach managers on effective performance management, feedback, and development practices.
- Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant employee relations practices.
- Partner with leaders on succession planning, talent reviews, and leadership development initiatives.
- Support onboarding, training, and development programs that strengthen employee capability and retention.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Partner with HR Operations, Payroll, and Benefits to ensure accurate onboarding, employee data management, and reporting.
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of HR policies and procedures.
- Lead, coach, and develop HR team members while remaining actively involved in day-to-day execution.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all HR matters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a hands-on, working HR leader with broad functional responsibility.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing decision-making.
- Excellent communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in a multi-site, manufacturing, distribution, or corporate environment.
- Experience building or standardizing HR processes and practices.
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
