The research assistant provides training in teaching, advanced anatomical topics (e.g. embryology, and medical imaging) and research methodology (e.g. biostatistics and scientific writing). The research assistant will have the opportunity to teach in the anatomy curriculum and to develop a research project with the goal of publication and presentations.Job Description:

Job Duties Outlined

• Assist in teaching all gross anatomy and neuroanatomy labs.

• Facilitate and enroll in surgical training programs (e.g. BASE).

• Assist in the management, organization, and operation of the Anatomy Lab.

• Prepare and clean the laboratory environment.

• Assist in inventory and order equipment for the lab.

• Manage in-lab video projection and recording equipment.

• Complete a research project focused on a surgical and/or anatomy issue.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Enrollment as a current medical student at the University of Kansas Medical Center

• Successful completion of first two years of medical school by the start of fellowship

• Received score of "Pass" on Step 1 USMLE Exams

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience: Strong overall performance in the anatomy lab assessments

Skills

• Proficient dissection skills in gross anatomy

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
