Receives direction from and reports to the Chief of EMS and the Deputy Chief of EMS and is responsible for managing daily operations and directly responsible for implementation of specific EMS Programs and operations including, but not limited to, Fleet supervision, CQI/QA program, scheduling, staff deployment and staff training, orientation and development.
Position Duties- Fleet Services, coordinating with Town Fleet department, following a preventative maintenance schedule, monitors vehicle usage and safety, tracks and trends response times and emergency responses, complies with OEMS regulations for inspections and licensure.
- Inspects EMS equipment and apparatus on a scheduled basis; identifies need for maintenance and/or repairs.
- Tracks, orders and accounts for the supplies and equipment necessary for daily EMS operations including durable and disposable equipment and pharmaceuticals including monitoring the narcotics program.
- Ensures adequate coverage on shift by locating personnel to cover any vacancy which may arise due to leave, illness, resignation, etc., or by serving as a Paramedic when necessary to cover open shifts.
- Manages employee time-off requests per policy and coordinates bi-annual shift bid process in accordance with policy.
- Responds to Emergency calls as a Paramedic, provides pre-hospital emergency care.
- Responds along with EMS staff to high acuity calls, acts as an Incident Commander for EMS and liaison for MCIs and large-scale standbys.
- Reviews Patient care records, conducts clinical review, and coordinates with Sponsor Hospital Medical Direction and tracks and trends employee clinical performance as part of a robust quality assurance/quality improvement program. Reports metrics as directed.
- Represents Trumbull EMS at meetings or events as assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief of EMS.
- Creates and/or facilitates trainings and CMEs for Trumbull EMS field staff.
- Performs general clerical tasks such as answering phones, creating invoices (as required for materials management) and interacting with the public.
- Other duties referenced in Policy and Procedure manual and/or assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief of EMS.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
1.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
2.Working knowledge of computers and office equipment.
3.Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and protocols
4.Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
5.Experience collaborating with outside agencies and or authorities
6.Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
7. General familiarity with CT OEMS regulations and statutes pertaining to EMS.
8. Experience responding to emergency calls while in a supervisory capacity and directing multiple units and departments.
9. Ability to pass pre-employment physical with regards to functional job requirements including lifting and moving of equipment and patients, vehicle operations, frequent standing and carrying equipment.
10. Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Requirements:
1.High School Diploma or GED (associate’s degree preferred)
2.Current CT Paramedic License in good standing.
3.5 Years Paramedic experience (management experience highly preferred)
4.Valid driver’s license (ability to obtain CT driver’s license within 180 days of hire preferred)
5.AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS provider (instructor preferred)
6.ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
7.ICS 300 or 400 preferred
8.Sponsor Hospital Council of Greater Bridgeport Medical Control or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Other Qualifications
SCHEDULE:
- 40 Hours/week
- Rotating schedule 6-month bid, coordinated with other Captains
- Days, nights and weekends
- Ability to Flex scheduled hours based on needs of the Service and with approval from the Chief of Service
