Salary: Starting at $17 / hour - depending on experience
Job Summary
The Medical Receptionist / Scheduler will be a team member who has a positive personality, is customer service oriented and a team player. The candidate will provides front desk and administrative support to the outpatient medical center to ensure optimal running of the practice.
Responsibilities:- Greets patients upon arrival courteously.
- Answers multi phone system and directs calls appropriately.
- Prior to scheduled appointments, checks eligibility and obtains any authorizations, pre-certs, and or referrals required for the visit.
- Checks patients in, to include, confirmation of demographics, insurance information.
- Scans all ID’s, insurance cards and any tests, consults, lab results or other paperwork brought in by the patient.
- Reviews all patient registration information including, signed billing agreements, assignment of benefits and HIPPA privacy papers.
- Checks out all patients upon completion of their office visit and follow physician orders for any follow up care.
- Schedules all new and follow up appointments including referrals to other providers and any diagnostics ordered by the physician
- Arranges transportation as necessary.
- Submits and obtains referrals.
- Confirms upcoming appointments.
- Attends inter-office meetings as necessary
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the manager.
- Complies with all legal requirements of the medical center.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPPA requirements.
- Familiar with ICD10, and CPT coding as related to the company superbill and testing ordered.
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Navinet, NIA and other various authorizing agencies.
- Ability to work with insurance and managed care companies.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED required. Associate degree preferred.
- Medical terminology a plus
- Prior EMR experience is a plus
- A minimum three years of experience at a front desk in an outpatient practice setting required.
- Medical Assistant Certification is a bonus
