Position Summary:

The Mental Health Counselor Associate position encompasses delivering exceptional clinical care through the evaluation, individualized therapy, and group counseling of the clients served by Triumph programs. This position is essential in determining the necessity of treatment and proper diagnoses, crafting strategic treatment plans, and aiding clients in setting and accomplishing their personal goals; while teaching and providing coping strategies for clients. The Mental Health Counselor Associate will exemplify Triumph’s mission and values. RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Deliver evaluations and offer therapeutic counseling to individuals, families, and groups as part of the mental health initiative and other related programs when required.
  • Use standardized tools and clinical interviews to evaluate symptoms, behaviors, and psychological functioning.
  • Presents mental health/behavioral health findings and recommendations in verbal or written format to appropriate professionals either upon request or as part of a regular case presentation for peer review or clinical meetings or required documentation for client care.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HIPPA and privacy practices that follow ethical guidelines
  • Ensure that the consumer services’ quality assurance (QA) protocols comply with all relevant mandates, including those at local, regional, state, and federal levels.
  • Foster collaborations within Triumph and other organizations and service providers to supplement and reinforce the overall well-being and stability of individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Ensure that all client documentation is kept up-to-date and complies with agency policies as well as with local, state, federal, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the legal requirements tied to emergency management, such as crisis response services or Child Protective Services/Adult Protective Services engagement, and the necessity to file reports with law enforcement agencies.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in high-level written, verbal, and digital competencies essential for the execution of the responsibilities outlined in this job description
  • Ensure that individual licensure and continuing education requirements are being met and maintained throughout employment.  
  • Attending required meetings, trainings, supervisions, and/or committee meetings that have been assigned or appointed. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: 

  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.

 

 

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience required
  • Knowledge in alcoholism, drug addiction, and ASAM criteria
  • Knowledgeable in long-term rehabilitative processes, including awareness of the need for medical care, post-treatment crisis, relapse, and new problems airing from sobriety

 

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: 

 

  • Must have an associate professional license and registration number from the State Department of Health and be in good standing. (licensed mental health counselor associate, licensed marriage and family therapy associate, or licensed independent social worker associate).
