Job Description:AHRC New York City is seeking a Full-Time Janitorial and Food Services Shift Supervisor, who has previous experience supervising Janitorial and Kitchen staff.
Salary: $27 per hour
Location: Downtown Brooklyn...near Brooklyn Bridge
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am -4pm (40hrs/wk.)....must be willing to work later in evenings during events and at times for coverage.
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Shift Supervisor will ensure that all contract specifications of the AHRC Services and departments are met. Supervise Kitchen/ Maintenance Associates, and maintain good relationships with all site managers and customers. Model and teach food service techniques and appropriate work habits in compliance with all contract guidelines, food safety and OSHA regulations. Act as a liaison between workers, assigned site personnel and AHRC management. Assist and/or perform the completion of required tasks.
Certain Employment Business Services (EBS) customers require that our staff comply with clearance procedures prior to us providing support services for our consumers. Staff must comply with these requests; such as fingerprinting and background checks.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assure that all contract specifications are met or exceeded. Develop and implement effective and efficient food service techniques. Develop and implement effective and efficient cleaning services Techniques. Train and supervise all Kitchen / Maintenance Associates on completing required tasks. Supervise and properly instruct Kitchen / Maintenance Associates on how to perform their jobs successfully. Assure that the work area is safe, clean and complies with all applicable food service and OSHA regulations. This includes, but is not limited to making sure that all workers are wearing all required safety or personal protection equipment.
The Shift Supervisor is a working Supervisor, who is responsible for ensuring that all services are being fulfilled during the shift assigned. The shift Supervisor ensures that both the cleaning staff and kitchen staff are following their schedules and performing their job duties to the highest level of quality. The Shift manager may be required to work late during customer events in which food service is provided or other services are required.
The Shift Supervisor will be required to:
- Ensure that the all areas of the building are maintained in good general order & clean condition in accordance with safety and sanitary guidelines.
- Reinforce training and/or supervise Kitchen/ Maintenance Associates in completion of job tasks to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Under the direction of the food program staff, assist with food preparation work
- Respond to written Quality Assurance Inspections with appropriate plan of action and follow up, and should be scheduled periodically with Regional Manager to review work.
- Be prepared to handle job related emergencies.
- Responsible for on the job training and daily supervision of employees in their assigned work areas.
- Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner. Must be committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. OSHA/Hazcom Regulations and HRS Safety Policy must be implemented at all times.
- Require to wear a uniform. Uniforms will be provided by agency.
- The shift supervisor must be flexible and able to alter their schedule according to the needs of the customer.
- Ability to respond during unscheduled events and/or emergencies
- Must have Safe-Serv certification or NY Food handlers certification
- Must have a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and requirements
- Experience with supervising janitorial and kitchen staff
- Effectively maintain communication with customer, management, and outside contractors
- Must have a keen attention to detail
- Ability to stand and walk around for 8 hours per day
- Must have good written and verbal skills
- Minimum of High School Diploma
- Ability to complete a heavy workload, handle multiple tasks, working in fast pace environment.
