Summary of Position:
The Sanitation Worker III is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the plant. This role involves cleaning general plant areas and equipment, removing refuse, and leading large-scale cleaning projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cleaning duties in general plant areas and on equipment, including refuse removal.
- Operate machinery such as floor scrubbers, high-pressure washers, wash cabinets, cop tanks, walkers, walker stackers, electric pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and forklifts (stand-up and sit-down).
- Utilize tools such as brooms, brushes, spray bottles, mops, squeegees, water guns, air guns, and vacuums.
- Use industrial-strength cleaners, degreasers, and sanitizers to clean factory equipment and plant areas, including assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Maintain safety awareness, monitor surroundings, and train team members on occupational hazards.
- Complete log records of tasks performed.
- Lead large cleaning projects such as allergen/kosher cleaning, caustic boil-outs, and deep cleaning with Cold Jet. Provide technical assistance for on-shift cleaning when conducted by non-sanitation personnel.
- Ensure work area is clean before leaving for the day.
- Follow all food safety and quality standards, including GMP, allergen controls, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
- Document and maintain preventative controls for food safety and quality.
- Report all food safety and quality issues immediately to management.
- Collaborate with team members and share knowledge across functional areas.
- Support safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting hazards, and conducting safety observations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1–3 years of sanitation or equivalent work experience required.
- Licenses: Level III Power Equipment License (JBSS issued).
- Skills:
- Basic math skills.
- Good manual dexterity and vision.
- Ability to safely operate Cold Jet equipment.
- Proficient in using industrial cleaners, degreasers, and sanitizers.
