The core mission of this role is to support, implement, and ensure compliance of The Children's Guild's behavior motivation model.

  • Support & Model: Provide modeling and mentoring to staff on executing the behavior motivation model.
  • Compliance: Maintain regulatory compliance with agencies like COMAR, MSDE, and OSSE.
  • Training: Develop and provide training for various school personnel (teachers, aides, social workers, etc.).
  • Direct Assistance: Offer direct support to resource instructors and therapeutic behavioral aides for identified students.
  • Collaboration: Work with the school's IEP coordinator and student LEAs to align service delivery with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Resource: Serve as a behavioral resource for parents, community providers, and the school community.

 

 Key Result Areas (KRAs)

The responsibilities are broken down into several Key Result Areas:

  • Responding to Mindset in Behavior: Focuses on actively managing student behavior by demonstrating proactive strategies, analyzing the impact of interventions, developing replacement behaviors, and ensuring all practices align with the school's Positive Behavior Intervention Model and use continuous data analysis.
  • Management of Behavioral Services in the School: Involves coordinating services, including timely communication with parents, providing support to therapeutic behavioral aides, facilitating various behavioral meetings (case study, etc.), and assisting with the development and monitoring of FBA/BIPs (Functional Behavioral Assessments / Behavior Intervention Plans).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all daily practices and systems for staff and aides align with COMAR and MSDE regulations.
  • Training: Assessing staff training needs, providing in-class support for students with behavior issues, and ensuring staff understand and implement student FBA/BIPs.
  • Professional Development: Maintaining required licensing and continuing education.
  • Positive Student Intervention: Executing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), integrating the Transformation Education philosophy, and monitoring safety, especially for high-risk situations.

Qualifications


The qualifications of this position include the commitment and drive to develop the potential of others and the interpersonal skills necessary to do so. The successful candidate will also possess a value system that is consistent with the organization's philosophy and goals, demonstrate leadership skill, be mentally alert, physically healthy and possess the stamina needed to work with children in a dynamic environment. The professional in this position must also possess a desire to grow, learn and change, and to serve as a role model. This professional will work closely with both the behavioral resource instructors as well as the clinical team.

This position requires significant knowledge and experience with behaviors associated with emotional disturbance and autism in children grades K-12.

 

Academic Preparation and/or Experience:

Must have a current Registered Behavior Technician Certificate approved the BCBA Board.
