Performs semiskilled work operating the City’s carrousel and miniature train rides, enforcing rules and regulations, selling tickets and collecting fees, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Amusement Supervisor.
Position Duties- Operates the miniature train, carrousel equipment and riding devices.
- Educates riders regarding the proper use and safety measures of rides.
- Enforces posted rules and safety regulations.
- Operates and supervises all rides associated activities; assists guests on and off rides, ensures appropriate number of guests are maintained, etc.
- Sells tickets and collects fees for ride services; maintains basic revenue and maintenance records and reports.
- Opens and closes the ride facilities.
- Inspects rides and general area for damage and other hazards; maintains safe operating conditions.
- Performs light cleaning duties such as sweeping and dusting to ensure the cleanliness of the rides and surrounding areas.
- Sets up for parties, works with renters and guests.
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in customer service or other work with the public, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must participate in specialized training to operate the carrousel and train. Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications upon hire.
Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.
Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in mechanical riding device operations; general knowledge of North Carolina Department of Labor specifications to perform operation of ride-related equipment; general knowledge of safety and first aid practices; ability to understand and follow written department policies and guidelines; ability to maintain order in a public facility; ability to prepare and maintain detailed financial records; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to meet and deal effectively with the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, ride guests, interested groups, and the general public.
