Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment.


General Summary:  

 

The Resource Room Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide variety of group and individual skill-building services in order to facilitate client job acquisition and retention within a resource room environment. The Resource Room Coordinator is also responsible for directing client flow during assessment testing, collecting and filing completed assessments; keeping job boards updated with potential lead; and assisting clients with basic independent job search skills ( i.e. resume writing, "Google" searches, setting up an email address, registering with Illinois Work Net and other job seeker websites, etc.) The Resource Room Coordinator is responsible for tracking Resource Room usage by documenting client attendance, services rendered, and job starts in both Salesforce and IWDS systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

 

Stakeholder Interface and Service 

 

  • Coach and support clients to effectively use the tools provided in the resource room, including word processing, resume writing, internet job searches, other software programs related to training or employment search.
  • Provide individual coaching to clients who access the Resource Room. The Resource Room is open to the public, as required by the funder, so participants may not be eligible to register as a client.
  • Monitor all Resource Room equipment in both Resource Room, including computers, printers, lap top, LCD projector, head phones, fax machine, etc. ensuring equipment is properly maintained and secured, reporting any missing, broken, or not working. The Resource Room Specialist shall monitor client proper phone and internet usage reporting inappropriate usage immediately to management. 
  • Conduct Safer Foundation orientation to all clients seeking Safer Foundation services twice daily. Ensure clients complete Illinois Worknet assessments and required funder paperwork for Retention Services

 

 

Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment 

 

  • Individual coaching/mentoring is provided to clients by the Resource Room Specialist. Client rapport is essential to establish an open line of communication with clients that obtain job starts as a direct result of Resource Room usage. The Resource Room Specialist will document self-placements in AXIOM and report self -placements monthly with documentation for verification

 

 

Tracking, Document, and Reporting 

 

  • Collect and complete information that verifies the attainment of contractual requirements accurately and on time.
  • Update job boards are weekly to reflect job leads organized by industry. The Resource Room Coordinator shall provide job leads to all participants using the Resource Room regardless of Safer Foundation registration.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

 

  • Knowledge of human behavior, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning and motivation.
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications such as Microsoft Office and online applications such as Salesforce, Illinois WorkNet and “Google” for job search. 
  • Ability to actively listen and convey information to others effectively.
  • Skilled in Critical Thinking, judgment and decision-making
  • Hands-on experience and self-sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook (for email), Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging).

 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two-years work experience preferred
