Position Overview
The Interim Inventory Control Specialist reports to the Inventory Control Lead and operates under the direction of one or more Inventory Control Analysts. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable accounting of inventory systems in parallel with physical inventory throughout the facility. Key responsibilities include executing and supporting cycle counting strategies, leading efforts in inventory error resolution, and providing leadership communication of status, root-cause findings, and risks.
In addition to these core duties, the Interim Inventory Control Specialist may identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement by creating metrics, analyzing data trends, and conducting root cause investigations. The role may also involve collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Receiving, Operations, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning to support inventory integrity and process optimization.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support investigation and optimization of cycle counting to maximize accuracy
- Execute inventory investigations using the ERP, WMS, and other cross-functional systems
- Plan, assist with, and investigate cycle counts and spot-checks
- Review and report inventory adjustments, changes, and variances, including root cause analysis for shrinkage and loss
- Process physical inventory transfers
- Remove damaged inventory from software systems
- Document and communicate physical processes that may cause inventory discrepancies
- Generate reports on fulfillment accuracy across multiple channels
- Assist with resolving quality concerns across inventory operations
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excel proficiency (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data visualization)
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to execute tasks with consistency and reliability
- Ability to build strong working relationships and keep stakeholders informed
- Growth mindset with a desire to learn and embrace new ideas
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights up to 20 feet
- Ability to operate a lift truck (preferred but not required)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in a distribution environment or warehouse (preferred)
