Description
This is a seasonal position. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Winter shelter which provides temporary housing and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter months.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and clients.
- Conduct daily shift change meetings, including assigning workstations, instruction to shift, review of log entries and incident reports.
- Provide strong leadership to shelter staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
- Manage shelter beds and ensure maximum use of the beds each evening depending on availability.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of guest intake, services provided, and incidents.
- Address conflicts or disputes among guests and staff in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the shelter facility.
- Ensure that the facility is properly equipped with necessary supplies and resources.
- Attend and actively participate in Supervisors meeting.
- Oversee maintenance of operations log, department records, statistical records, and other documentation, including computerized records.
- Attend all meetings as assigned.
- Perform all duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field (preferred).
- Must have experience working in an integrated service team, using client-centered, harm reduction approaches.
- Must have experience training and supervising.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills ability to read and write.
- Ability to use computer, foster teamwork, and work independently.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local homeless services, resources, and community networks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening.
