Description

This is a seasonal position. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Winter shelter which provides temporary housing and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter months.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and clients.
  2. Conduct daily shift change meetings, including assigning workstations, instruction to shift, review of log entries and incident reports.
  3. Provide strong leadership to shelter staff and volunteers.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  5. Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
  6. Manage shelter beds and ensure maximum use of the beds each evening depending on availability.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of guest intake, services provided, and incidents.
  8. Address conflicts or disputes among guests and staff in a professional and compassionate manner.
  9. Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the shelter facility.
  10. Ensure that the facility is properly equipped with necessary supplies and resources.
  11. Attend and actively participate in Supervisors meeting.
  12. Oversee maintenance of operations log, department records, statistical records, and other documentation, including computerized records.
  13. Attend all meetings as assigned.
  14. Perform all duties as assigned.

Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field (preferred).
  • Must have experience working in an integrated service team, using client-centered, harm reduction approaches.
  • Must have experience training and supervising.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills ability to read and write.
  • Ability to use computer, foster teamwork, and work independently.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of local homeless services, resources, and community networks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening.
