The Opportunity:
We have an immediate opening for temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to work in Arizona, based out of our Flagstaff office.
What We Offer:
- Compensation – This position is paid on an hourly basis between $22 - $24 per hour, depending on experience and education. Per diem varies between $59-$74 per day for hotel-based projects, per 2026 GSA rates by county. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects.
- Benefits – Temporary staff members are eligible for paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Participating in archaeological excavation, monitoring, and pedestrian survey projects as a crew member, under the supervision of a field director or crew lead. Work will occur primarily in Arizona.
What You'll Bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and/or completion of an accredited field school.
- Education and/or experience in the U.S. Southwest.
- Experience conducting fieldwork in a cultural resource management setting.
- Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of data recovery experience within the Northern Southwest.
- Ability to identify archaeological artifacts and features.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility).
- Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time.
- Capability and willingness to work 8-day field sessions.
- A willingness to work out-of-town.
- Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection.
- Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
