JOB SUMMARY

This position is accountable for the set up and operation of machines in saw department in order to produce quality components.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use machines such as band saws, deburring lathes, hoists, and forklifts.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Set up and operate various machines in saw department.
  • Make necessary manual adjustments based upon measurements taken by use of various measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret work orders to select proper work center and identify required tooling to perform the operation.
  • Move and manipulate parts to various containers in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Interpret work orders for moving and delivering products to the next location for processing.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records on raw material in work cell.
  • Perform cycle counts as requested.
  • Communicate with inventory management to point out and help resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Properly record all heat numbers per work instruction.
  • Work with incoming trucks to unload and store raw material, verify and count materials received to assure that shipping papers and materials match and point out discrepancies as needed.
  • Properly maintain machines for optimal effectiveness.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, and process all instructions, written or verbal.
  • Must have a working knowledge or ability to learn required measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must be able to attain forklift certification and drive forklift.
  • Ability to use lifting and moving equipment as required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Quality oriented mindset, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a safe and accurate manner.
  • Basic math skills are required. 
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and alter hours as business needs dictate.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Specific PPE is required within the cell.
